SMC Capstone
Capstone is the final course of our Camak Core professional development concentration where students implement a project to apply the knowledge and career skills they have gained through SMC's innovative Bachelor’s degree programs.
This project-based learning experience culminates at the APEX Showcase, the grand finale of the students' capstone projects. Join us to see the top three presentations and network with our seniors to find out what they have to offer the workforce as they graduate!

What? Showcase is an in-person networking and presentation event where local employers and organizations are invited to SMC's campus to meet with our graduating Capstone seniors and hear from this year's top three finalists. Students will share about their projects in a high-top setup and network with you to show off their career skills.

What? APEX EXPO presentations are a series of (7) one-hour in-person events with a seminar-style setup where 5 to 6 students will present their Capstone projects and then field live Q&A about their presentations in front of a judge's panel. The top three Capstone presenters will be selected as finalists to present at APEX Showcase for a cash prize. *Registration is not required for this event.

"SMC Student Teacher Project" focuses on a discussion of different careers in education, the alternative learning education program path, and grad school opportunities for students who plan to go into the field of teaching after graduating from SMC.

"Simple 7 Bars" is a social media and branding consulting project for a protein bar company, focusing on improving social media presence, website, and general marketing advice.

"America's Future Farmers" shows an introduction to homesteading such as gardening, chicken keeping, and food preservation methods through sessions held at the Spartanburg Headquarters library in downtown Spartanburg.

"The Spartanburg JAM Session" is an opportunity for local musicians to come together, share their musical ideas and styles, gather content, and connect with other artists at the Mayfair Art Studios.

"Written In The Stars" is a poetry/journaling workshop project that combines an art element and calligraphy/cursive, bringing awareness to the art of writing and mental health.

"Snacks for Students" provides SMC students with a healthier snack alternative. Our goal is to fuel students to sustain their busy schedules while making a positive impact in a time efficient manner.

"Angel Cosmetics" is a natural beauty brand that specializes in the production of lip gloss from natural products.

"Kicks for Kids" is a golf event and fundraising project at Streaking Birdies. The goal is to raise money to donate to a local group for kids in need of new shoes.

"Young Future Farmers & Outdoorsmen" teaches elementary school students about wildlife and agriculture careers to help encourage younger kids to go into wildlife and agriculture careers.

"BH Virtual Solutions" is a virtual assistant startup business that aims to empower entrepreneurs by giving them back valuable time, ultimately enhancing productivity and allowing them to concentrate on vital aspects of their businesses.

"Educated Young Parents of the Upstate" is a project intended to educate, motivate, and elevate young parents like Olivia through six weeks of free workshops with free childcare included.

"Dando La Mano" project goal is to help the hispanic population understand the FAFSA and college tuition process at Gaffney High School.

"Self Awareness" is a project centered around taking young athletic women through a six week process of journaling, in hopes of revealing new tools these young women can implement in their daily lives.

"Art Justified" is a college-focused art therapy project that aims to show how art can increase freedom, identity, and expression. Participants will art journal, and create a mural in their local community.
