SMC Men Win; Women Take Third in Pioneer Fall Invitational Golf Tournament

The Spartanburg Methodist College men’s golf team captured the team title in dominant fashion on Tuesday, winning the Pioneers Fall Invitational by 19 strokes at the Cherokee National Golf and Recreation Club.
The “A” team — consisting of Evan Cheek, AJ Bolin, Thomas Campbell, Kendall Howle, and Parker Harrigan — posted a team score of 578 (+2, 285-293).
For the second time this fall, freshman Evan Cheek earned individual medalist honors, finishing at four-under-par 140 (70-70) to edge teammate AJ Bolin by two strokes. Cheek, Bolin, and freshman Thomas Campbell were all named to the All-Tournament Team for their top finishes.
The SMC women’s team finished third at the invitational.
The Pioneers posted a team score of 734 (+158, 375-379), improving by 16 strokes in the final round. Their 359 was the second-lowest team score among the six-team field. Adeline Todd led SMC with a seventh-place finish, shooting 174 (+30, 89-85). Isabella Marz placed 11th with a 178 (+34, 90-88), while Gracelyn Toler improved by eight strokes in the final round to tie for 18th at 190 (+46, 99-91).
