SMC Student Art Exhibit Honors Southern Women for Black History Month

Three Spartanburg Methodist College students recently exhibited works at the school honoring Black Southern female artists in celebration of black history month.

The students artists selected an artist to honor and created a trilogy piece to tell a story about their chosen artist and their work. SMC students who participated and the artist they chose were:

  • Jada Howze honoring Endia Beal with a photography display.
  • Taylor Wade honoring Ya La’Ford with an acrylic paint, wood, and soil display.
  • Demajae Smith honoring ShAy Black with a canvas, acrylic, and paint display.

The exhibit was unveiled at an opening reception that also featured an appearance by ShAy Black, one of the artists being recognized.
