Award-winning jazz musician Sheldon Ferguson to perform at SMC

Spartanburg Methodist College will host Atlanta-based jazz musician Sheldon Ferguson for a live event on Sept. 7 at 7 p.m. The event will be held in Gibbs Auditorium; it is free and open to the public.

Ferguson released his first smooth jazz album, titled “The Brighter Side,” at age 17, and recently released his second album, titled “Soul Searching,” which charted at #7 on the Smooth Jazz Global Listener Chart and #39 on the Top 50 Albums chart.

In addition to his solo work, Ferguson performs as a guitarist, accompanying artists such as Ledisi, Aloe Blacc, Bilal, Angie Stone, Kim Burrell and others. He recorded guitar for Travis Scott’s Billboard Top 100 hit, which appears on the Billboard #1 and RIAA Gold Certified album “Astroworld.” He was also featured on the IMAGE award winning soundtrack for Greenleaf season 2 and appeared on the show.
